THE ROLE

The Analyst position is an opportunity to join the most active investment team in one of tech’s most dynamic sectors.

You will be an integral member of a fast-paced and tight-knit investment team working on some of the most exciting deals in the PropTech market. You will work closely with the investment partnership and senior investment professionals to help execute all aspects of MetaProp’s deal process and fund operations, with a particular focus on deal diligence, investment operations and portfolio management.

It is a unique opportunity to work on the frontlines of venture investing, deepen deal and operational experience, build sector knowledge, work with talented entrepreneurs, other VCs, limited partners, and other constituents in the PropTech and venture capital ecosystem.

The Analyst role will support investment team decision making and a broad range of firm/fund operations. Excellent research, analysis, communication, project management and data skills are the bedrock skill set for this role. A strong finance IQ, familiarity with startup metrics, the investment process and portfolio management, and a passion for technology are all attributes that lend themselves to near-term success and longer-term growth.

We are a fast-paced, high performance team.  We thrive as individuals but love collaboration.  Someone with limitless curiosity for the ever-evolving PropTech world, a can-do attitude, proactive orientation and a collegial disposition paired with a serious competitive streak would fit in well.

This role is based out of New York City.

RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES

  • Deal Sourcing: Ensure that MetaProp’s deal flow remains the best in the business by contributing to outbound and data-driven deal sourcing and other existing efforts, leading new creative and proactive sourcing strategies, and over time cultivating your own unique networks and deal flow channels.

  • Due Diligence: Contribute to deal diligence efforts, including developing an understanding of markets and competitive dynamics, analyzing business and financial models as well as business strategy and operational plans, conducting customer and industry expert interviews and reference checks. Prepare metrics tear sheets, valuation and investment returns analysis and help draft detailed investment memos for our investment committee. Provide additional operational support to deal teams as needed. Strong attention to detail, project management and written communication skills are key here, as are your deal instincts and judgment.

  • Investment Operations: Own our deal CRM, pipeline management, and document management system. Compile our bi-weekly investment committee meeting agenda. Assist with portfolio monitoring and analytics, and contribute to the management and execution of investment close processes. Maintain up to date firm information in public databases (e.g. Pitchbook). Continue to build out and evolve MetaProp’s investment and internal procedures, tools, and models based on experience and best practices.

  • Investor Relations & Fundraising: Contribute to quarterly investor reporting and our annual audit. Coordinate with our capital markets and innovation services teams to assemble and share pipeline and portfolio information and analyses and respond to fundraising data requests.

  • Research: Work closely with senior investment team members to develop and research new investment theses and themes and refine investment strategies.

  • Community Engagement: Over time, the ideal candidate should have an interest and ability to foster relationships with PropTech entrepreneurs, industry experts and fellow investors to enhance the firm’s network.

ABOUT YOU

It’s reasonable to assume that your judgment has often been praised throughout your career to date.

  • You love thinking about fast-moving technology markets. Their drivers, dynamics, where they’re heading, who’s up, who’s down, who’s coming up and why.

  • You are highly interested in the venture capital ecosystem. You follow the firms, individual investors and important trends within the space, and are developing an understanding of the industry at both high theoretical and on-the-ground practical levels.

  • A self-starter with a track record of over-delivering. We are a high throughput team filled with folks who consistently go the extra mile and are proud to consistently attract folks who meet the same high bar.

  • Consistent, organized learner - you are insatiably curious and love diving into a new challenge or subject area and approach it with both intrigue and rigor.
